Previous Year Results

2009 - NPS Area 32  11-04-2009

The first show of 2009 was a great success for Ballynacoy Welsh Cobs.

Ballynacoy Jumping Jack Flash had a fairly slow start to the day when he went 2nd in a very strong m and m large breeds class. After Lunch Jack turned on the style winning the Welsh Cob Class and went on to take the Welsh Championship.

This was Ballynacoy Maverick's very first outing. This very smart 3 year old colt is Jacks son. Maverick had a great start winning the m and m youngstock class and the Championship. Maverick also won the Welsh youngstock class.

As the Father and Son had won a championship each, they both qualified for the Inhand Supreme Championship.

Maverick was 1st reserve with his father taking the Supreme Inhand Championship qualify them for the over all Supreme Championship (against the Ridden Champions.)

Jumping Jack Flash never missed a beat and was awarded the Supreme Overall Champion. Maverick was place sixth over all.

2009 Summary

It’s been a quieter year at Ballynacoy Welsh Cob, not by mean of the results but just for the quantity of shows we participated in. We decide not to go to some of the local shows in order to take the boy’s over the pond to some of the biggest shows in Wales (Royal Welsh), England (Ponies UK Championship Show) and Scotland (Royal Highland.) Along with these shows we chose a couple of the local shows in order to blow off those winter “cob” webs.

The first of which was the NPS area 32 Spring Show.  Where the Father and Son team Jumping Jack Flash and Maverick had a fantastic day. With Jack going all the way to win the Supreme Inhand Championship and the overall Supreme Champion. His three year old son followed in his father’s footsteps with 2nd reserve inhand supreme not bad for his first ever show.  We managed to keep up with this great starting winning at Northern Ireland Horse festival, Irish Pony Society Championship Show and Clougher Valley Agriculture show to mention a few.

Taking the cobs over the pony was a daunting task, so much to worry about! But we went on regardless and I have to say it was worth it. The first trip was to the Royal Highland we where graced with a fine day and a great atmosphere in the main rain. Keltic Warrior charmed his way to second in a strong stallion class.

I don’t think I have to mention the glorious weather at the Royal Welsh but we braved the front and entered the Main Ring. There are no words to describe it the crowd going crazy, the mud flying everywhere........ What a show!!

Last but not least we headed to Ponies UK with Keltic Warrior and Maverick.  Keltic Warrior continued on from his winning ways from last year at this show take the red rosette four times, a second reserve, two reserves and two championships. Maverick found the travelling a little too much the first few days showing but he did take Third in the three year old section D class. The final day of showing he finally settled into it and won the M and M Three year old class.

So another exciting season has come to an end and already the plans have started for the 2010 season. Who knows what’ll happen!!!!!
